学好英语是很多学生的心愿，但据我了解，在大学里真正可以比较轻松自如应用英语交流的还是非常少的一部分人，不少通过了四级甚至是六级的同学，也许可以在考试中取得高分，但距离学英语的基本目标：交流，还是有很大的差距。我们中的绝大多数人都学了十年，甚至十几年的英语，花在上面的时间也不少，但可能至今还听不懂，说不出，而我认识的一位德国留学生安德烈只学了一年的英语，就能够几乎没有障碍的与英国，美国的老师交谈，在英语角甚至有人误以为他是英国人，是什么导致了英语学习中的如此巨大的差异？
原因很简单，我们和安德烈学习的环境不一样。我们是在中国老师的带领下，背了十年的课本，做了十年的试卷，而安德烈是和十几名同学在两位英国老师的带领下，在英国学习生活了一年，租房子，买东西，看病，投诉全部要用英文，用他的话说：“一开始人简直要疯了”。我们一天也许只有45分钟接触英语，而他一天却有16个小时接触英语(睡觉除外，但据说他到后来做梦也说英语)。这样算来，他一年内花在英语上的时间的确比我们十年还多，他自己也承认他在课下所习得的英语短语，习惯用法比在课堂上多得多。
说了这么多，无非是一个很浅显的道理：“要学好英语，你必须有一个良好的英语环境，在这个环境中，你被‘逼’着一天不间断的接触，使用英语。语言不是一门科学，而是一种技能，对于技能的习得，我国有句老话：“熟能生巧”，英国也有句老话：“Practice makes perfect”。如果你有钱，去美国，英国，加拿大等国学习是最好不过的了。但像我们这些没那么有钱的学生是不是没有办法了呢？非也，非也，俗话说得好：“事在人为”嘛。如何为自己营造一个英语环境，这还是因人而异，受场地，器材的限制，我只把我的一些办法说一下，就当抛砖引玉，启发一下大家的灵感：
我觉得大家千万不要买磁带了，太贵，一盒七块，只听不到一个小时，划不来。有没有原汁原味又不要钱的听力材料呢？有！向互联网上找吧，像美国之音，BBc广播，在网上都是24小时滚动播出的`，收听起来十分方便，如果你的电脑装有宽带，还可以在线收看一些国外电视台的在线新闻，影音俱全，又学英语有长知识，何乐而不为呢？
此外，看电影练听力也是我十分喜爱的一种方式，如果你有一台dVd机，花一元钱租部电影，就可以听上两个小时，你可以选择英文字幕或不要字幕，一边欣赏节目，一边练习听力，既有趣又有效。我最喜欢的电视剧集是“Friends”(六人行)至少看了两遍，沉浸在“Friends”的欢笑中，就好像神游了一遍纽约城，强烈推荐！
读，这个嘛，我就不推荐上网去读了(虽然网上有丰富的阅读材料)，因为盯着屏幕看久了对眼睛不好。其实，读的资料现在还是很多的，便宜的如“china daily”，一元钱可以买回一大堆，贵的如“Reader’s digest”，一小本25元。我们那有一个外文书店，有卖很多进口书的，是我最喜欢逛的地方。当然，有时运气好，在旧书摊上可以淘到一些便宜的原版杂志，着实令人高兴。我不是很喜欢英汉对照的，我觉得只有看全英文的，你才会被逼着查字典，记单词，通过读当代的杂志如“Reader’s digest”，你才能随时更新自己的英文，毕竟语言是在不停发展的，千万别整天抱着Jane Austen，dickens 的小说读，那里面的语言太陈旧了。
写。这一项是最容易被人忽视的。听和读都是被动接受信息，比较轻松有趣，而写则比较严肃费神。很多同学中文作文都懒得写了，更别说是英文了。其实我认为不然，每个人都有表达自己观点的欲望，也希望自己的声音能够被别人听到，因此，写得一手好文章是十分重要的。我建议大家每周都写一篇英文周记，内容很广泛的，可以是你看过的一部电影的影评，可以是你对某个国际事件自己撰写的“社论”，可以是给朋友的一封信，也可以是你用英文对某个人的痛骂，自娱自乐, 笔耕不辍, 若干月后再回首,写作水平已悄然进步很多了。
说。这一项是最难做到的。我们总不能自己跟自己说话吧。一般说来，我练习口语有两个途径：第一，多听：既然说的机会很少，就干脆多听一些，听的机会还是很多的，听说不分家嘛，在听得过程中可以纠正自己的发音，熟悉英美人士遣词造句的特点，而像我上文提到的，在看“Friends”的过程中，我学到了不少地道的表达法，多看几遍，台词都可以脱口而出了，我觉得对促进口语还是很有帮助的。第二，抓住一切机会说英语。就像我说的，事在人为。找一位志同道合的朋友，每星期去英语角坐坐，用英语聊会天。积极参加英语演讲比赛，不用太在意名次，就当为自己提供了一个用英语展示自己的舞台。要是有机会认识一位外国朋友就更好了，他能指出你口语中的错误，纠正你的发音，并且能告诉你很多短语的正确用法。此外，口语水平的差异是很大的，对于那些基础不太好的同学，我觉得当务之急是要纠正自己的发音，不要说得太快，说慢些，说清楚，能让别人明白，就算完成任务了。发音很重要，大家一定要重视。
俗话说：“兴趣是最好的老师”。如果说我在英语学习上取得了一些成就的话，那也是因为我对学习英语有着强烈的兴趣，在别人看来也许每天听说读写是一项苦差，而在我看来这些都是对我最好的放松。没有对英语学习的兴趣和激情是不可能学好英语的。如果我的这篇文章能激发你学习英语的热情，启发你学习英语的灵感，其实也就达到了我写这篇文章的目的。希望大家注意，之所以在美国学英语比较快，是因为那里有一个良好的英语环境，使你日复一日，年复一年的高强度的使用英语。如果我们应用我们的聪明才智，用已有的条件创造一个很好的英语环境，学好英语绝对不仅是一个梦想！

hi. i’m alex from bei jing no.80 middle school. it’s an honor for me to have this opportunity to share some of thoughts with all of you at this moment.
as we all know, beijing has the opportunity to host the 20xx summer olympic game. we have been waiting for years for this chance to show others around the world to our very home, and show them the combination of technology, history, and environment that we all cherish well. we’re pretty satisfied with our nationality, locally. but as i traveled to a few foreign countries, i realize that some children with chinese backgrounds are unwilling or ashamed to be what they are, because of some unavoidable racism and racial discrimination. and some are just embarrassed because they have black hair, brown eyes and yellow skin; they think being like this makes them look ugly, some even wished that they were caucasian. it’s a sad reality that these people really exist. so i realized that how important it is to make understanding between others and us.
so, what does racism have to do with the 20xx olympics? as i have mentioned, it’s a chance. but it isn’t just a chance for us to go and show others our culture. it’s a chance for us to go and show some people who we really are, it’s a chance for us to go and show some people that if they can do it, we can do it, too. it’s a chance to let them change their view about us forever, and then they will know that no matter what race you are we are all the same, no race is more better then the other in any field. but this chance only comes for once in a lifetime; let’s not waste it. i don’t think anyone wants to wait for another fifty years; the future is now. so don’t stand there and wait, you have to run to it. maybe things will happen during this marathon, but one thing is for sure, we will all make it. so let’s not lose faith.

My lecture’s name is "A Perfect Holiday".
Now it’s the 21st century, everyone is busy. Especially our
parents are very busy. Every boys and girls, please imagine this: your parents go away on business, but you have to stay at home alone. Would life as easy as when your parents are around? Would it be a perfect holiday for you?
Once, my parents both go on business. I worry "Where would I find food? How would I cook it?" Actually I know little about cooking.
I can fill an empty stomach with tomato and egg soup, but that’s all. I think many of my classmates are the same. We wouldn’t know what to do, or how to look after ourselves. So I don’t think teenagers get enough practice.
My friends said that they did their homework until 10 o’clock, it’s so late! Most teenagers only have time for their homework. They don’t learn any life skills until they go to college.
But why it happens? In my opinion, many teenagers depend too much on their parents, and there is much more to learn than cooking, like"tidying up your room or even dressing yourself properly".
If we want to solve this problem, there’s a way: Try our best to do some things on our own. A human first need be a self-help person, then he will be a successful man.
